Anti-Bullying Policy

3. Definitions

3.1 Harassment

  • Violating someone else’s dignity

  • Creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment for someone else

Harassment can occur even if the individual does not have the protected characteristic themselves (e.g., perceiving someone as transgender).

3.2 Bullying

Bullying involves persistent, offensive, intimidating, malicious, or insulting behavior that undermines an individual’s dignity or creates a hostile environment. It can be verbal, physical, or psychological.

4. Prohibited Behavior

  1. Verbal Harassment and Bullying:

    • Offensive language, slurs, or derogatory comments

    • Threats or intimidation

    • Ridicule or humiliation

  2. Physical Harassment and Bullying:

    • Unwanted physical contact

    • Invasion of personal space

    • Damaging personal property

  3. Cyberbullying:

    • Harassment through electronic communication (emails, social media, etc.)

    • Spreading rumors or false information online

  4. Sexual Harassment:

    • Unwanted sexual advances

    • Inappropriate comments or gestures

    • Displaying offensive material

5. Reporting and Investigation

  1. Reporting Procedure:

    • Any individual who experiences or witnesses harassment or bullying should report it promptly to their supervisor, HR, or a designated contact person.

    • Anonymous reporting channels are available.

  2. Investigation:

    • All complaints will be thoroughly investigated.

    • Confidentiality will be maintained to the extent possible.

    • The complainant and accused will be treated fairly.

  3. Support for Victims:

    • Victims will receive appropriate support during the investigation.

    • Measures may include counseling, adjustments to work arrangements, or relocation.

6. Consequences

  1. Disciplinary Action:

    • If harassment or bullying is substantiated, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

    • Consequences may include verbal warnings, written warnings, suspension, or termination.

  2. Personal Liability:

    • Individuals engaging in harassment or bullying may be personally liable.

    • Legal action may be pursued if necessary.

7. Prevention and Training

  1. Training:

    • All employees will receive training on this policy during onboarding and periodically thereafter.

    • Training will cover recognizing, preventing, and addressing harassment and bullying.

  2. Awareness Campaigns:

    • Regular communication and awareness campaigns will reinforce our commitment to a respectful workplace.
